ABOUT MISS ANDERSON – AISTD ballet, tap, modern, and contemporary.

The Anderson School of Dance is owned and run by Miss Anderson. She started dancing at the age of 2 1/2 taking classes in ballet and later on in tap, modern, jazz, disco, ballroom and latin dance. Whilst at school she trained at King Slocombe School of Dance in Cambridge.

At the age of 18, after taking A levels, she went on to train at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey. Past students include Victoria Beckham, Ruthie Henshall and whilst she was there Lee from Steps! Whilst at Laines she gained all her RAD ballet exams and ISTD tap and modern exams. She also gained ISTD teaching qualifications in ballet, tap and modern.

After leaving Laines she went on to work as a dancer appearing in the UK in shows at the Hackney Empire and in two tours of Spirit of the Dance. She also appeared in pop videos, on Jim Davidson’s Generation Game and in a mini series for sky 1 called the 10th Kingdom.

Miss Anderson has also worked abroad. In Austria she took part in a show to promote the new Volkswagen beetle. In India, Portugal, Turkey, Hong Kong and Singapore for Spirit of the Dance. But the highlight of her career was appearing in the Olympic stadiums in Seoul, Korea and Munich, Germany in a show with Michael Jackson and numerous other stars.

After that she trained as a personal trainer and sports therapist and began working at the Houses of Parliament gym whilst teaching dance at the weekends for a dance school in Enfield, Middlesex. She then started teaching at a school in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, and when offered to take over the classes she decided to leave the gym and teach dancing full time. She unfortunately then had to move from Biggleswade so took on another teacher to help run those classes and started some new classes in her new home of Kettering in September 2003. The school has now gone from strength to strength with over 275 students and the opportunity to have their own studios.

The school teaches children from 3 years and adults of all ages with classes in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, street dance, flexibility, contemporary and musical theatre.

Miss Anderson believes that all children, regardless of age or ability, can learn to dance and enjoy all the benefits it brings. The main priority in class is to make sure the children are safe and having fun whilst learning good discipline at the same time. You can request a copy of our child protection policy at any time.
